It’s your Lucky Daye! The highly anticipated debut album from New Orleans native, Lucky Daye, is now available on all major platforms for purchase and streaming. The album is packed with a variety of songs including the already viral “Roll Some Mo” & “Karma” which is an interpolation of Ginuwine’s smash hit “Pony”. Both of which also appear on his previous EP’s I & II. Daye’s versatility is on full display on this project. The different style and sound to each song is a reflection of the care and effort put into the album. The majority of the production on Painted, is provided by Grammy-award winning producer D’Mile. DJ Camper, another Grammy-award recipient produced the last song on the album “Love You Too Much” which is a masterpiece. Prepare to add some joints from the album to your playlist.
Daye’s musical journey and roots date back to his childhood and upbringing. Raised by his mother in a religious cult in New Orleans, Daye was forbidden to listen to any music that didn’t have a religious message. However, this did not prevent him from discovering his talent for singing as he taught himself melodies and song structures. He would sing verses from the Bible and turned children’s books into songs.
Following the disaster of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Daye and his mother relocated to Texas. They dissolved from the cult as a result. This allowed Lucky to fully indulge himself into his passion as he discovered the sounds of legends such as Prince, Rick James, and Stevie Wonder among others.
Fast forward to 2008, Lucky began leaving his imprint in the industry. He began to take off as a songwriter after earning credits on songs recorded by Keith Sweat & Ne-Yo. This led him to gain more opportunities to write for the likes of Boyz II Men, Ella Mai, Trey Songz, and Mary J. Blige among many others. It wasn’t until 2018 where he got his first deal, signing with RCA Records and releasing his first EP titled I in October of 2018, which received critical acclaim. In January of 2019, he followed up with the release of his second EP titled II. II was well received by many major online music outlets.
Following the release of Painted, Daye sat down with Ashley Outrageous at the YouTube space to do a fun Q&A. You can view that HERE. It was also announced yesterday that Lucky Daye will be performing live at the 2019 BET awards which are set to air Sunday, June 23 at 8 p.m. EST from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. “This album is my first baby. It’s where my heart hides. It’s a colorful window that is exclusively open to the truest form(s) of love. It is a letter to you. You who judge me, you who hate me, you who talk love but never show me. You who watched me kill myself to love you. You who I should have loved but missed out on, You who I loved wrong. You who I want to have more of and it kills me because I can’t help it. You who I only want to be next to. And most importantly a letter to #mydayeones
Thank you for reminding how it feels to be gave a fuck about! My fans 4ever are my friends 4ever!!“
