Searching for good music in today’s over-saturated music industry can be a tough task. We’re here to make it easier for you by informing you of JMSN. If you’re already aware of him, you may learn something new by reading below. For newcomers, we hope you’ll indulge in his refreshing and pensive music.
Born Christian Berishaj in Detroit, JMSN currently resides in Los Angeles. The Alternative R&B singer-songwriter possesses a wide range of talents. That list includes being a multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, mixer, and videographer. Before he was known as JMSN, Berishaj began recording music professionally at the age of 17, due to always being fascinated by music, under the stage name Snowwhite as part of a tepid rock band by the name of Love Arcade. After that failed to pan out, Berishaj adopted the name Christian TV. Both opportunistic ventures with Atlantic Records and Universal Motown Records, respectively, proved to be unsuccessful, causing Berishaj to emerge in a reconfigured state with a new name and reflective music style that includes tones of Electronic music accompanied by an Alternative R&B sound.
What he describes as “Hippie R&B” found its way through the industry that yearns for creative uniqueness. Shortly after, JMSN released his debut album “†Priscilla†” in January 2012 via his own label, White Room Records, which earned him a high degree of praise from the press and his artistic peers. Priscilla’s success captured the attention of platinum-selling artist Usher, ultimately leading to JMSN landing four slots on Kendrick Lamar’s groundbreaking “good kid, m.A.A.d city” album. The four songs being “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe”, “The Art Of Peer Pressure”, “Sing About Me/Dying Of Thirst”, and “Real”. JMSN’s impressive talents have also allowed him to collaborate with the likes of Game, J. Cole, Tyga, Ab-Soul, Kaytranada, Ta-ku, and many others.
In 2013, JMSN self-released Pllajë. It made for another striking musical project from the Alternative R&B artist. Our favourite song from Pllajë is “Thing U Miss”. According to JMSN on his Tumblr page, the purpose of this wonderful song is to depict the reality of there being more than just the surface. That our minds and perceptions make things real. That things are only weird or evil or inappropriate if you’re making it that.
In 2014, rumours of a new album were circulating. After some delays, a self-titled album was eventually released in December of 2014. The success of JMSN’s self-titled album (JMSN), paved the way for a prosperous world tour which further expanded his reputation as a unique talent. Stops of the tour included cities across North America, Europe, Australia, and China.
JMSN’s musical rise continues with the upcoming release of It Is. set to release on May 6, 2016 via his label, White Room Records. The three singles from It Is. are “Cruel Intentions”, “Most of All”, and “Hypnotized”. These new songs encapsulate his refined style that implores you to hang out and vibe to. Be sure to pre-order It Is. and give JSMN a follow on his social media presence. His tour kicks off on May 6th, click HERE to catch him at a venue near you!
“Tell me what would you do
If things had got so complicated
That the lies become true
And the things that made us, now just tear us apart
The feeling you once loved, now rips out your heart“
– JMSN (Do You Remember The Time)
